In all forms of sport there is that one athlete that stands out above all, a unique individual that has character, amazing prowess and the ability to command respect wherever they go. These kinds of people do not see second place as an option. It’s first or nothing! Why build a street machine just to impress when you can build to dominate. Well readers, the individual is none other than this killer EVO 9.

The dark scheme and sinister appearance gives you an idea of what this car entails. What we can tell you with our experience is the sheer speed, the lawless acceleration and the monstrous noise it makes at 30+ psi. This is definitely not your average EVO.

Back in 2010 this Evo 9 was bought and a few light mods were added and it was acceptable, for a brief period, then the itch for performance soon turned into a scratch and it wasn’t long before the tinkering began. This car is set to enter the next local 1/8th mile drag meet here in Barbados hosted by BADD – (Barbados Association of Draggers and Drifters). Some say it will be in the 6 second bracket but only time will tell and we atJDMSquared certainly do believe so.

The high end parts in this build are truly astonishing. Brands such as Buschur, Manley, AMS, ShepTrans, AEM, to name a few, make up this build. With domination as the goal, you cannot expect less. The current engine is a built 4G63 2.3L the head consist of GSC Power division Mivec EVO9 S3 cams,Ti retainers and upgraded Manley valve springs.

The block runs a 2.3 Manley Stroker Kit forged throughout which gives that extra torque and compliments the Garrett GTX 3586 Turbo Kit for that quicker spool.

Every aspect of performance has been touched. Keen readers would take one look at this pic and realize the Skunk 2 intake manifold, one of the crucial mods for forced induction motors.

Knowing the approximate power figures this setup would achieve, a host of drivetrain upgrades were made. First off is the Quartermaster Twin Plate Clutch. All of the axles came from Driveshaft Shop front and rear axles. This just wasn’t enough, more had to be done! A ShepTrans dogbox, an aluminum driveshaft and a full AMS drag race rear differential were acquired. All of this work was done to ensure that all 4 wheels get that power to the asphalt efficiently.

The next crucial mod is fueling. The cylinders are fed with hefty 2150cc injectors with this type of fuel only adequate spark need apply and that is where the Spark Tech coil packs come into play burning that E85 efficiently.

Function is everything for this Evo but form was still considered. Those must-have CCW 18" x 10" wheels are pure bliss. Peeping through those gorgeous spokes and you see, an all-round Stoptech big brake setup.

No one can deny the amazing handling capability of an EVO but this one now sits on Ohlins Road and Track Coilovers. I definitely don't think the Bilsteins were up to the job for this power magnitude.

Special thanks go to David Balgobin and Scott Bentham as they had significant involvement with this build.  We do look forward to this EVO9 running at the next BADD event as fate didn’t allow it in the previous. What time do you think this ultimate street beast will do?
